JOTSOMA, MARCH 23 (MExN): Kohima Science College, Jotsoma, celebrated its 4th Origin Fest with a vibrant display of Nagaland’s cultural diversity under the theme “Tapestry of Traditions.” The annual event brought together students, faculty, and guests for a day of cultural  appreciation and unity.

The festival was chaired by Nadia Limarenla Longchari and began with an invocation by Vekrulu Nakro, followed by a musical performance by Azeno Nakhro. Principal Dr. Temjenwabang welcomed the gathering, highlighting the festival’s significance in preserving traditional values. He also extended gratitude to the organizing committee, faculty, and students for their contributions.

The college honored students who have excelled in beauty pageants at state and national levels, recognizing them as ambassadors of excellence. Among the awardees were Miss Nagaland 2024, Anon Konyak, and Miss Mega Model 2024, Kelhule Nag.

MLA AR Jwenga Seb, Chairman of the DPDB, Tseminyu, attended as the chief guest. An alumnus of the college, Seb reflected on his time as a student and lauded the institution’s legacy. He urged students to embrace education and seek opportunities beyond conventional career paths.

The event featured an experience-sharing session by Anon Konyak, who recounted her journey to becoming Miss Nagaland. A skit titled “The Bamboo Girl,” performed by the Drama Club, emphasized the importance of nature and tradition. A performance by the KSCJ Choir added to the festive atmosphere.

Cultural Secretary Neilakhonuo Rülho delivered the vote of thanks, acknowledging the efforts of organizers, faculty, sponsors, and participants. The event concluded with the College Anthem.
