Kohima, July 5 (MExN): The St Francis De Sales (SFS) Parish, Kohima held its first Holy Communion Ceremony at the parish main Church with Rev Fr Mhabemo, Parish Priest as the main celebrant on July 3.
Coinciding with the feast of St Thomas the Apostle, Fr Mhabemo during his homily reminded the congregation that St Thomas was the first Christian missionary who came to India to sow the seeds of Christ's message of love. He therefore urged the congregation to live and exemplary life and respond to the call of God in whatever way possible.
‘Altogether, 99 children responded to the call of Christ's message and received their first Holy Communion which was instituted by Christ himself during the last supper,’ the Parish Priest stated in a press release. The ceremony was assisted by Rev Fr Alex Tep and Rev Fr Martin.
Earlier, the children were instructed and trained for 10 days in the preparation to receive the Holy Communion by the SFS Sisters under the leadership of the superior Sister Mariam, it stated.
