Mon, March 27 (MExN): The Konyak Union (KU) has extended support to the Eastern Nagaland People’s Organisation (ENPO) over its recent representation concerning the Frontier Nagaland Territorial Authority (FNTA).
In a statement issued on March 27, the union said the Memorandum of Agreement (MoA) signed on February 5 in New Delhi between the Centre, the Nagaland government and ENPO was a historic step towards addressing the long-standing aspirations and developmental concerns of Eastern Nagaland.
It stressed that any legislative process related to the proposed FNTA must uphold the letter and spirit of the MoA. The KU urged the Nagaland government to ensure that provisions and assurances in the agreement are not diluted while framing and passing the FNTA Bill, 2026, warning that any deviation could undermine public trust.
The union also appealed to safeguard the integrity of the MoA to strengthen mutual trust and pave the way for peace, development and progress in the region.
