KOHIMA, JUNE 9 (MExN): The Kohima Press Club (KPC) today while highlighting the challenges to safety faced by journalists in covering the COVID-19 pandemic, has thanked organizations and individuals for extending help to the media fraternity in Kohima.

A press release from the KPC General Secretary, Atono Tsükrü expressed gratitude to the Chief Minister's Office; Deputy Chief Minister, Y Patton; Minister of Higher & Technical Education & Tribal Affairs, Temjen Imna Along; Classic Club Kohima; Rotary Club Kohima; Kohima Science College Jotsoma; Health & Family Welfare Department;  and Medemerfund for their contributions.

It said that with the number of positive COVID-19 cases in the State increasing, the role of the journalists has become more crucial and in doing so, members of the media fraternity are at risk of exposure to COVID-19 while reporting in the field covering incidents relating to the pandemic, containment areas, quarantine centers, hospitals etc.

Meanwhile, the KPC advised all its members to take heed to the necessary precautionary protocols while on duty. “We also encourage our members to continue to disseminate vital information to the public during this pandemic,” it added.
