DIMAPUR, OCTOBER 11 (MExN): The Kuki Zo Council was officially established today, with five members elected to guide the community amidst ongoing tensions.
Ch. Ajang Khongsai has been elected as Chief of the Governing Council, while Haenlianthang Vaiphei will serve as Chairman. Other key positions include Thangzamang Zou as Secretary, GS Gangte as Finance Secretary, and Khaikhohauh Gangte as Information Secretary.
The Kuki Zo Council will function as a formal governing body, providing a space for dialogue and decision-making on political, social, and economic issues. Comprising representatives from diverse Kuki Zo tribes and Inpis, the Council aims to foster unity, uphold traditional values, and promote the community's well-being and progress. With plans to elevate the political voice of the Kuki Zo people on both local and national stages, the Council aspires to be the highest decision-making authority within the community.
The meeting included representatives from various tribal councils and organizations, including the Vaiphei Peoples Council, United Zou Organisation, Gangte Tribe Union, Hmar Inpui, Mizo Peoples Council, Thadou Tribe Council, Any Kuki Tribes Council, Kuki Inpi Manipur, and district-level Kuki Inpis.
