Kohima, November 22 (MExN): Citing a ‘power crisis’ in the State, the Department of Power, Government of Nagaland (DoPN) has informed all electricity consumers and public load shedding throughout the state on a rotational basis would be imposed.

The department said it is compelled to impose the move “due to low generation from the Hydro Power Generating stations and the resultant shortfall.”

In a press statement issued by Er Nribemo Mozhui, Chief Engineer (Transmission & Generation), the department also provided the current status of requirement and availability of power in the State. (See table)

The department further appealed to all consumers for judicious and optimum use of electricity “at this critical time of power crisis…”

It advised consumers to switch off ‘avoidable appliances’ stating that it would go a long way to reduce the duration and quantum of the load shedding.

While regretting the inconvenience caused, the department also informed that it is making all efforts to provide stable power supply during the festive season.
