The Longjang Kaketshir Telungjem Mokokchung (LKTM) celebrated a major milestone on October 10 with its 75th Platinum Jubilee at the Mokokchung Town Hall. The event was centered around the theme “Jangyumedem Shisashir” (Holistic Scholars).

The celebration was attended by TN Mannen, Advisor for Law and Justice, Land Revenue, Government of Nagaland, who served as the special guest, and Dr. I. Lanu Aier, Professor (Retd) from NEHU, who delivered the keynote address.

In his speech, Dr. Aier encouraged the younger generation to follow the path laid by their predecessors, reminding them that “the way has been paved by those before you.” He highlighted the vital role of reading in personal and academic growth, noting that “knowledge is gained through reading, and wisdom follows knowledge.” Aier expressed concern over the decline in reading habits and urged students to expand their reading beyond academic textbooks, emphasizing the importance of engaging with newspapers and literature. “Even the habit of reading newspapers is waning,” he observed, urging the youth to reignite their curiosity and passion for learning.

Drawing on his own experience as the first Naga gold medalist in sociology from NEHU, Aier encouraged students to “keep your eyes, ears, and mind open” and to share their knowledge with others.

Advisor TN Mannen, addressing the gathering, stressed the importance of youth as a time to discover talents and seize opportunities. “It is during youth that you must shape your future and the future of society,” he stated. Mannen also pointed out the limited availability of government jobs and advised students to explore alternative career paths early in life.

Er. Achanger Aier, SDO of the Electrical Department Mokokchung, gave advice to the students, encouraging them to be proactive, diligent, and ready to seize opportunities. Meanwhile, Bendang T. Jamir presented the Bendang T. Jamir and Family Trust Award, granting Rs 10,000 to HSLC toppers as a motivation for future success.

The program also included reflections from Advocate Repentsüng Jamir, who recalled the Golden Jubilee of the Longjang Students’ Union. Short speeches were delivered by community leaders such as Moarenba Aier, President of LKTM; Kajenkaba Aier, President of Asetkong Kaketshir Telongjem Mokokchung; and S Imti Aier, Chairman of the Longjang Village Council.
