Wokha, July 9 (MExN): The Longtsung village approach road which was constructed through LADP (2021-2022) was inaugurated on July 8 in the presence of Advisor for Horticulture & Border Affairs, Mhathung Yanthan. The event was held as part of a marathon programme of Lotsu circle tour under 39 Assembly Constituency. 

The inauguration was done at Longtsung Baptist Church, while a consultative meeting under Lotsu, Pyangsa, Moilan, Pyotchu was held at Lotsu Village community hall.

Yanthan said that through his initiative the project was funded and implemented, where he appreciated the workmanship of the work done. He urged the people to not only wait for the government to take up various minor works but called for community participation. He called for unity among the people and said that politics is an essential element in social life when positively taken into perspective. 

He informed that the centre has taken cognizance of Nagaland state under the Ministry of Minority Affairs and said that under Wokha District, Chanpang and Sanis blocks have been selected under Minority Affairs where various development programmes are now in the pipeline.

Meanwhile appreciating the able leadership of Nagaland CM Neiphiu Rio, he stated that the NDPP is committed to serve the people.

At the consultative meeting held at Lotsu Community hall, he highlighted the importance of education, water supply as well as medical institutions, which he addressed to the communalized village level organization to strengthen their assigned responsibility for an effective implementation of schemes and programmes. He also informed funds that are yet to arrive through NEPC programmes and various schools have been put in place.

He also addressed one of the major problems in repairing of the road from Sanis ‘0’ point to Lotsu village. He further extended help for immediate repairing of godowns for food supply store at Lotsu and procurement of medicines for first aid to the area people.

Meanwhile, various problems and issues were addressed by the community to the departments present at the consultative meet. Yanthan sought for speedy attention to certain farmers’ problems, informing the department HoDs present during the tour programme.

DC Wokha, Ajit Kumar Ranjan, IAS said that only by visiting the ground of an area, one understands to address the issues and problems accordingly. He also said that the real engine of social progress is the people and urged them to play a vital role for social progress through unity and management of proper funds allotted to them.

John Ezung, President, NDPP Wokha Region; Grace T Murry, General Secretary, central women wing NDPP; Renbi Lotha, Central Executive Board (CEB), NDPP, village leaders, elders and supporters spoke on the occasion. Benthungo Yanthan, Agri Director; Ncumbemo Lotha, Additional Secretary, Tribal Affairs, and officials from departments like Food and Civil Supply, Forest, Land Resource, Medical, Veterinary and Animal Husbandry and Civil Administrative Works Department (CAWD) accompanied the tour programme.
