A new annexe— Lt Ved Prakash IPS Building at the Unit School DEF Mokokchung was inaugurated by Z Samson Vijay Kumar, General Manager (P), NHIDCL Mokokchung on Friday.

Speaking at the programme, Z Samson Vijay Kumar hoped that the students would get a good future with the inclusion of a new science and computer lab in the new building. He said that computer knowledge in today’s time and place is a very important aspect for children’s education and the future. 

Mokokchung Deputy Commissioner Shashank Pratap Singh, during a brief exhortation, stated that the existing school which is being upgraded with a new building that includes a science and computer lab was a noble initiative. He further highlighted that the state of education in Nagaland is not very healthy and that the school should aim to provide quality education to its students. 

The DC also appreciated the NHIDCL for its contribution in the school through its CSR funding while also requesting the NHIDCL to be a developmental partner in the district and state for the betterment of the society. 

Imtimeren, Addl SP of Mokokchung and Chairman, Unit School, DEF Mokokchung gave a project report, stating that the school was a welfare school which is run by the contributions of the police personnel. The school currently has an enrollment of 101 pupils with 12 teaching and non- teaching staff. 

He also stated that the new annexe was a collaboration with the National Highways and Infrastructure Development Corporation Limited which has funded a fully functional computer lab including 10 computers and a solar power system.

The building was completed in a record time of 1 year with a Budget of Rs 23,40,500.

The programme was chaired by Aotula T Imchen, Superintendent of Police, Mokokchung, while a dedicatory prayer was pronounced by Rev Temsu, Pastor, Police Baptist Church, Mokokchung.
