Luangdimai Citizens’ Forum to host Makuiluangdi Festival 2025

Imphal, November 14 (MExN): The Luangdimai Citizens’ Forum is set to host the Makuiluangdi Festival 2025, under the theme “Malanwangbo: Return of the Native.”

In an update received here, it stated that the festival will be held on November 18 to 21, at Makuiluangdi village, Manipur.

Likewise, it stated that the festival was aimed to reconnect themselves as a people by revisiting the ancestral village of Makuiluangdi from which the Zeliangrong/Luangdimai dispersed after migrating from Makhel.

It informed that some of the highlights of the festival included the ancestral trail run from Makhel to Makuiluangdi, piling of village stones at the hallowed ground; folk song competition, painting competition, traditional games and sports, and exhibition of arts and crafts.

At the same time, it has requested all Zeliangrong/Luangdimai villages, who have not brought their village stones in the 2019 festival, to bring their village stones to be placed at the Hallowed Ground as a symbolic gesture of Malanwangbo - a return to the place of origin and renew their togetherness.

Furthermore, it informed the festival will also be enriched by cultural dances and songs presented by the Heraka Association from Assam, Nagaland, as well as performances by TRC Imphal, adding colorful moments to the festivity.
