Mon, February 27 (MExN): The Longwa Village Council (LVC) submitted a memorandum to the Union Minister of Health & Family Welfare, Science & Technology and Earth Sciences, Dr Harsh Vardhan “addressing the need of well advanced medical facilities in the village and in the entire sub-division of Phomching.”
The memorandum was submitted to the Union Minister during his visit to Longwa village, Mon district along with his wife Nuton Goel on February 26.
LVC, Chairman, C Noklem Konyak and Secretary, Lonchi in the representation highlighted that the Health and Wellness Center in Longwa village benefits not only the residents of the village but also the people from neighboring villages and even from across the border as the village lies on the international boundary of India and Myanmar.
“People of the region find it more convenient to reach Longwa village for medical assistance though they are aware of the fact that medical facilities are far better in the district headquarters,” LVC said adding, “The financial status, poor road conditions and transportation problems makes it difficult for the poor farmers to avail medical facilities at urban areas.”
Therefore, the LVC said that the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare of both the State and Central government should address this issue and initiate necessary methods to improve the facilities and even upgrade the health centers.
“This gesture from the government would benefit not only the people of Longwa village but that of Phomching sub-division and also some Naga villages in Myanmar,” It added.
Meanwhile, the council also expressed gratitude to S Pangnyu Phom, Minister of Health & Family Welfare, Toshi Wungtung, Advisor IPR, SCERT & VG, Pohwang Konyak, Advisor Fire & Emergency Services, SIRD, Relief & Rehabilitation and others who accompanied the Union Minister.
