Naga People’s Front (NPF) president and Nagaland’s former chief minister Dr Shürhozelie Leizietsü today said that NPF stands for every Naga elsewhere to protect their culture and identity.

He said that that the top priority of the NPF is to work for bringing solution to Naga political issue.

Speaking at the election campaign for NPF three candidates under Ukhrul district- Leishiyo Keishing (43 Phungyar Assembly Constituency), Ram Muivah (44 Ukhrul Assembly Constituency) and Khashim Vashum (45 Chingai Assembly Constituency) for the forthcoming 12th Manipur Legislative Assembly (MLA) election 2022, he made a fervent appeal to electorates to prove their confidence on NPF party by electing them to the house of MLA.

He said that NPF Manipur state unit was launched in 2011 wherein four NPF candidates were elected for the first time to the MLA in 2012 elections. The party won the same number in 2017 elections.

Touching on the past experiences, he called upon the electorates of the Ukhrul district not to repeat the same mistake but to be conscious this time round and work hard to ensure that the party candidates come victorious in this forthcoming election.

NPF legislator from Nagaland, Dr Chotisuh Sazo said that Government of India has also recognized the uniqueness and history of this region and its people. “We need to protect and maintain our own identity, our culture, our traditions and our historical rights,” he said.

Stating that there are some national political parties who want to bulldoze and wipe out all those uniqueness from this region and want to wipe out the constitutional rights, he said “But the NPF has withstood all these forces that comes to wipe out this regional uniqueness, characters and qualities.”

He said the principle of NPF is to restore peace and normalcy in the region.

“As a democratic party, recognition of the will of the people will be the guiding principle in the conduct of the affairs of the party,” he said adding that the NPF party will work on constitutional line for the rights of the people.

He also told the gathering that the party will strive to set up a pattern of administration best suited to the tribes so as to pave the way for permanent internal peace and lasting good relationship with the Government of India.

He also told the gathering that the High Command of NPF is the voters and the grass-root people. “In order to keep Regional balance and keep a check on National parties, and to protect our constitutional rights, we need to come together, work together and support NPF candidates,” he said

Another NPF legislator from Nagaland, Y Vikheho Swu said that NPF is the right platform to take development forward. “We should work for good road, better medical facilities, power and quality education,” he said.
