Comprehensive Maternal and Child Health (MCH) Outreach Camp held at the Health and Wellness Centre-Sub Centre (HWC-SC) in Kijumetouma village on September 17.

Kohima, September 17 (MExN): The Office of the Chief Medical Officer (CMO), Kohima, in collaboration with the District Health Society and the National Health Mission (NHM), conducted a comprehensive Maternal and Child Health (MCH) Outreach Camp at the Health and Wellness Centre-Sub Centre (HWC-SC) in Kijumetouma village on September 17.
A short function chaired by Kevinguu, Community Health Officer of Kijumetouma HWC-SC. The event was also attended by local community leaders, with words of appreciation delivered by the Village Council Committee (VCC) and Jakhama Area Sabha (JAS) Chairman.
Addressing the gathering, Deputy CMO Kohima, Dr Imchatoshi, emphasised the camp's focus on mother and child health. He urged the community to avail themselves of the services and advocated for the adoption of a healthy lifestyle and better health-seeking behaviours. Dr Imchatoshi also reminded the congregation of their collective and individual responsibilities in raising health awareness to uplift societal health.
Dr Khrievilhou Nakhro, District Programme Officer (RMNCAH+N), highlighted the priority given to children and pregnant mothers. He stressed the critical need for community participation to ensure sustainable healthcare services and detailed the available specialist care, including pediatricians for child health, gynaecologists for maternal health, and the services provided by the Rashtriya Bal Swasthya Karyakram (RBSK) and Mobile Medical Unit (MMU) teams.
As part of the initiative, gifts and nutritional packages were distributed to fully immunized children, ASHA workers, and pregnant mothers as a measure of encouragement.
The camp witnessed a turnout of 62 inhabitants who availed of various health services. The key screenings and procedures conducted included Ante-Natal Care (ANC): 13; IUCD insertions: 5; Non-Communicable Disease (NCD) Screening: 43; Pediatric Consultations: 17; Laboratory Tests: 43.
Free distribution of Information, Education, and Communication (IEC) materials was also carried out to spread awareness on health issues.
The medical team was led by Dr. Imchatoshi, Dy. CMO Kohima, and comprised DVBO/DSO Dr. Kevilhulie Meyase, DPO Dr Khrievilhou Nakhro, Gynaecologist Dr. Ayo Thao from Viswema CHC, Pediatrician Dr. Akatoli from Chiephobozou CHC, along with officials from the District and Block Programme Management Units (DPMU & BPMU), and Community Health Officers from Kijumetouma, Sakhabama, and Dihoma HWC-SCs.
