KOHIMA, SEPTEMBER 18 (MExN): The office of the Chief Medical Officer (CMO) Kohima, in collaboration with the District Health Society under the Department of Health and Family Welfare, National Health Mission (NHM), conducted a maternal and child health (MCH) outreach camp at Kijumetouma village health and wellness centre-sub centre (HWC-SC) under Jakhama block on September 17.

The programme was chaired by Kevinguu, community health officer of Kijumetouma HWC-SC, while words of appreciation were delivered by village council chairman Kruzelie Paünuo.

Addressing the gathering, Deputy CMO Dr Imchatoshi urged villagers to avail all services at the camp, which focused on maternal and child health. He stressed the need for adopting healthy lifestyles and better health-seeking behaviour, while also reminding the community of its role in spreading awareness.

District programme officer (RMNCAH+N) Dr Khrievilhou Nakhro highlighted the priority groups of the camp—pregnant mothers and children—and emphasised community participation for sustainable healthcare services. He also informed that specialists including a paediatrician, gynaecologist, RBSK team for children, and MMU team for general health services were available.

Gifts and nutritional packages were distributed to fully immunised children, ASHAs and pregnant mothers. A total of 62 people availed services at the camp, including 13 antenatal check-ups, 5 IUCD insertions, 43 NCD screenings, 17 paediatric consultations, 11 immunisations, 20 anaemia screenings and 43 laboratory tests. IEC pamphlets and leaflets were also distributed.

The camp was conducted successfully by a team led by Deputy CMO Kohima Dr Imchatoshi, DVBO/DSO Dr Kevilhulie Meyase, DPO (RMNCAH+N) Dr Khrievilhou Nakhro, gynaecologist Dr Ayo Thao from Viswema CHC, paediatrician Dr Akatoli from Chiephobozou CHC, along with district and block programme units and CHOs from Kijumetouma, Sakhabama and Dihoma.
