The Mezoma Students’ Union (MSU) today held a cultural cum literary day at the village ground with Director of Tourism, Keduosieü Metha as the special guest.

Speaking on the occasion, Metha appreciated the MSU for holding such an event to mould the young students. It is with a vision that such a day is being organized and it should be continued in order to pass down the cultural identity and also provide exposure to the youngsters. She appreciated the lush green forest and called upon the villagers to create awareness on preservation and conservation of the rich forest covers and flora and fauna.

Meanwhile, Metha asserted to provide assistance to promote tourism activities to the possible extent.

She called for maintaining ecological balance by banning hunting of wildlife and also fishes in the riverine. She appealed to them to follow proper waste management.

She informed that the department is pursuing the setting up of tourism amenities and waiting sheds in the village. She encouraged the villagers to open up home-stays to give the experience of village life to tourists. She also informed that Mezoma village walk will be introduced in the ensuing Hornbill Festival along with Nagaland Tourism Association.

Greetings on the occasion were shared by Headmistress of Government High School Mezoma, Kezhaleno Lhousa and Mezoma Welfare Forum official Vikuosietuo Krose.

Chaired by convenor organizing committee, Mhiesisekho the programme commenced with prayer by Pastor CRC Mezoma Kevigwelhou Khawakhrie. MSU President, Silievi Kehie delivered the welcome address and Secretary Organizing Committee, Rokoneituo Siamvü.

Special presentations were made by St Joseph School, Government High School and Government Primary School Mezoma.

 Various competitions including horn blowing, traditional howling, fire making, shawl making, lullaby etc marked the occasion. The prizes for the competitions were handed over by Mezoma VDB Secretary, Rokovito Kitshü.
