Mhasilhousie Nagi emerges WAYO wrestling champion

Twenty nine years Mhasilhousie Nagi of Jotsoma village (Group-C) emerged the wrestling champion title of 58th Sports Meet 2022 of Western Angami Youth Organization (WAYO), which concluded here today at Khuochiezie.

Standing 5’10, weighing 82 kg, he downed Rokolhuto Suokhrie of Group-C in quarter finals and booked the final berth after defeating Lhouvikhoto Vakha of Group-B in the 2nd semi finals.

Son of Nisako Nagi, he pocketed a cash prize of Rs 80,000.

5’8 feet tall and weighing 82 kg Kevizhakho Suokhrie of Jotsoma (Group-C) stood second position.

He overpowered Kevisezo Nipu of Group-D in the quarter finals and defeated Kekhriezo Nagi of Group D in the first semi finals. 20 years Kevizhakho, son of Vilakolie Suokhrie, fetched a cash prize of Rs. 50,000.

31 years Kekhriezo Nagi, son of Late Videtuolie Nagi of Sechii Zubza (Group-D) and 27 years Lhouvikhoto Vakha, son of Tevizo Vakha of Khonoma (Group-B) bagged 3rd and 4th position and received Rs 40,000 and Rs 30,000 respectively.

Earlier, Lhouvikhoto Vakha defeated Pehievilie Punyii of Group-B while Kekhriezo Nagi overpowered Seyiejalie Gwirie of Group-C in the quarter finals.

Losing quarter finalists Kevisezo Nipu of Group-D, Rokolhuto Suokhrie of Group- C, Pehievilie Punyii of Group-B and Seyiejalie Gwirie of Group-C received Rs. 5000 each.

In Junior category, Neikerhezo Zhiinyu of Sechii Zubza bagged the champion title and awarded with a cash prize of Rs. 30,000. Sedenei Nakhro of Jotsoma stood second position and received Rs 20,000.

Kevizetuo Kuotsu of Sechii Zubza and Casavi Sophi of Khonoma won third and fourth place and received Rs 15,000 and Rs 10,000 respectively.

Earlier, MLA Keneizhakho Nakhro graced the event as the special guest. He challenged the sportspersons to work hard and focus on professional development. Asserting that sports has wide spectrum of competitions, he advised the sportspersons to maintain consistency to excel at the higher level.

Nakhro maintained that the state can get opportunity to host the National Games as and when the sportspersons of the state established the medal prospect.

WAYO Wrestling Secretary Zapusazo Sirie administered oath to the 60 senior and 16 junior wrestlers. WAYO Advisor Neidilhouto Sechü chaired the event while WAYO president Megorüzo Chase delivered presidential address. Later, Gonei-u Sirie gave away prize to the winners at the prize distribution ceremony.
