Kohima, January 28 (MExN): An inaugural programme for the mid-career training on Establishment Matters for officers of the Nagaland Police Service (NPS) was held on Wednesday at the Administrative Training Institute (ATI), Kohima.
The training programme, scheduled from January 28 to February 4, focuses on establishment-related matters and aims to equip government officers with the necessary knowledge and skills to enhance efficiency, effectiveness and professionalism in service delivery.
An update received here stated that around 16 topics and sub-topics will be covered during the training, with resource persons drawn from various departments and offices. The programme is being funded under the Department of Personnel and Training’s Central Sector Scheme, “Training For All (TFA)” — State Category Training Programme (SCTP) component.
Delivering the keynote address, Director General of ATI, V Shashank Shekhar, IAS, said the Nagaland Police has demonstrated professionalism and courage in the discharge of duties, both within and outside the State, and that officers from other States have also commended their performance.
He noted that officers posted at the field level are the visible face of the government and stressed the need for continued coordinated efforts to combat substance abuse and safeguard the younger generation.
Principal Secretary, Home Department, Government of Nagaland, Abhijit Sinha, IAS, in his address, said that apart from domain-specific skills, knowledge of establishment matters and training in manpower and resource management procedures are crucial for officers.
He added that such training programmes provide an opportunity for officers to reflect on their work over the years and enrich themselves with new perspectives, and expressed hope that the programme would refresh participants and strengthen their administrative and management capabilities.
The programme was chaired by Joint Director (Training), ATI, Kaholi Sema. Deputy Secretary, Personnel and Administrative Reforms, Asalie Lese, who is also the course coordinator, presented an overview of the training.
The event was attended by IGP PHQ, Sanmeet Kaur, IPS; Director ATI, Akunu S Meyase, IAS; Additional Director ATI, Bendanglila, along with other officers and staff of ATI.
