Dimapur, August 31 (MExN): Responding to criticism of the Nagaland Congress on the condition of roads in Nagaland, Minister for Roads & Bridges Minister G Kaito Aye today said if “any dissipation of fund” is found, “such matter can be brought for necessary action. He has also assured best efforts “in carrying out the assigned responsibility.” A statement from the minister was received here today. The statement also mentioned a modest detail about ‘funds’, the core focus of the opposition Congress.
Report any fund glitch to Govt – Kaito to Cong
“Regarding the statement showing of works provision (2010-2011), it is a public document which has goes to different division for execution of works. In this regard, if ant dissipation of fund against any sanctioned work is found, such matter can be brought for necessary action,” Minister Aye said.
The minister’s statement then referred to the condition of roads in Nagaland. He said to have “visited all the major affected roads” and as required technical staff “with machineries were pressed into work at several major points so as not to create any inconveniences to one and all.” On the condition of the Wazuro range road in Wokha, the minister said “it was never brought to my knowledge either by the concerned division or by any individuals.
However, the department is giving priority to the roads according to its importance and it cannot give equal priority to inter-range or inter-village connected roads at the moment.”
On the issue of “non-availability” of contingency funds for natural calamities, the minister clarified that no finance was “accorded” for non-plan action during 2010-2011. “However in the current years programme (2011-2012), fund provision for this has been earmarked. In connection to repairing of potholes especially in Dimapur and Kohima cities, department is maintaining and will continue its efforts and for which activities, the question of availability/non availability of fund does not arise.”
In spite of the problems caused by natural calamities, Aye assured, the department will continue to put its best effort in carrying out its assigned responsibility. The minister however appealed to the “all responsible leaders including NPCC (Nagaland Pradesh Congress Committee) not to mix up all issues other than roads.” If need be, he added, the issues can be discussed on “different platform.”
