
Mokokchung, March 28 (DIPR): The much needed Cartridge Based Nucleic Acid Amplification Test (CBNAAT) machine was installed at District Tuberculosis Centre Mokokchung on the occasion of World TB Day on March 24. With the installation of CBNAAT at district TB centre, sending sputum samples to other states for Multi Drug Resistant Test has now become a thing of the past. The TB patients who are undergoing treatment can now undergo CBNAAT testing at the TB centre itself whether the TB Bacilli with the patient becomes resistant to the regular medications or not.
The CBNAAT machine at the District TB Centre was formally inaugurated by Minister for National Highway, Mechanical and Election Nuklutoshi. The inauguration was followed by the observance of the World TB Day at IMDH OPD Hall.
Addressing the function, Nuklutoshi expressed hoped the CBNAAT machine would immensely help in combating the TB not only in Mokokchung district but those nearby districts. He urged upon Doctors and nurses to be more committed to fight against the dreaded disease saying that inspite of advanced technology, human touch and compassion can never be replace in the healing process.
Chief Medical Officer, Mokokchung Dr S. S. Aka in his welcome speech highlighted the achievements made by Mokokchung TB Centre in the fight against TB and hoped that with the installation of CBNAAT machine the achievement rate would be further improved saying that TB is curable disease. The world TB Day was observed with the theme “Unite to end TB.
