A 9-member delegation of the Tuensang Chamber of Commerce & Industry (TCCI) led by their president L. Dorothy visited Mokokchung today and held a marathon interactive session with the Mokokchung Chamber of Commerce & Industry (MCCI) at Hotel Whispering Winds.
The TCCI leadership during the course of the meeting shared some of the major problems and issues faced by the business community in Tuensang, including ‘taxation’ by 8 factions. TCCI also inquired about the working system of MCCI, its functions and duties and its relationship with Assam counterparts.
Price regulation of essential and perishable commodities in the market, ‘monopoly business’, system of issuing of trade permits by the competent authorities in the two districts and importance of building strong relationship between the two chambers were some of the other topics discussed in the meeting.
MCCI members present in the meeting also shared their ideas and experiences with the visitors from Tuensang.
The meeting also mulled the formation of an inter-district chamber of commerce & industry comprising of the districts of Mokokchung, Tuensang and other districts whose major chunk of trade and business is linked to upper Assam. Further, MCCI assured its support to TCCI in all ways possible and conveyed its goodwill and best wishes to the new and revamped TCCI under the leadership of L. Dorothy.
After their meeting with MCCI, the TCCI delegation also held a brief interactive session with the Mokokchung Entrepreneurs Consortium.
