Dimapur, May 22 (MExN): The Darogapathar Youth Organisation (DYO) and Business Association Darogapathar (BAD) have vehemently condemned the “harassment and taxation demand” met out to the staffs and management at M/S Progressive Motors, Dimapur.
The two organizations in a joint press release stated that they firmly stand by the Darogapathar Village Council Resolution on ‘One Government, One tax’ and the ban against any illegal taxation within Darogapathar village jurisdiction.
DYO and BAD have also urged the Government of India and the Naga National leaders to bring an early political solution, which will help mitigate the multiple taxation faced by the Nagas and the business communities in particular.
The Darogapathar Village Angami Community (DVAC) has also expressed resentment over the extortion incident at M/S Progressive Motors, Dimapur. The DVAC in a condemnation note said that the incident is uncalled for and it should be condemned to “its core by every right thinking citizen.” DVAC also requests all the law enforcing Government agencies to do the needful at the earliest by providing necessary security and allowing the Proprietor to continue functioning his business without any inconveniences.
While condemning the tax demand by NSCN (U) and threat to close down M/S Progressive Motors Dimapur, Western Chakhesang Hoho (WCH) said that this is not the time to go about burdening business establishments. Meanwhile, the WCH President, Dietho Rhakho has lauded the Dimapur Police for taking timely action.
The Tenyimi Union Dimapur (TUD) on Friday extended solidarity with CAKU, BAN, PAC, ACAUT and DVC in condemning the taxation demand. The TUD further applauded the prompt action of the Dimapur Police in apprehending the culprit and appealed to the authority to take action as per the law of the land.
