Mangkolemba, September 29 (MExN): The Civil Society Organisation (CSO) Mangkolemba has convened a public general meeting on October 3 over the Khelo India multipurpose hall controversy, after its 20-day ultimatum to the state government expired without any response, the body has informed the district administration.
In a letter to the Additional Deputy Commissioner, Mangkolemba, the CSO said the meeting will be held at the Mangkolemba Public Ground in Nokyu Ward. The decision was taken at its executive meeting on September 28.
The CSO said it had on September 7 issued a 20-day ultimatum to Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio and to the MLA and Advisor for Youth Resources and Sports, through Global Window. The deadline lapsed on September 27. “No response has been received from the concerned authorities,” the CSO said. In view of this, the public meeting has been convened, it added.
The CSO further informed that certain restrictions will remain in force on the day of the meeting, including a ban on vehicular movement and closure of shops from 6:00 AM until the conclusion of the meeting.
Administration, police, medical and other emergency services, as well as educational institutions, shall remain exempted from these restrictions, the CSO said.
The letter was signed by CSO Mangkolemba Convenor I Tia Jamir and Secretary Wapongtoshi.
