Nagaland’s Governor RN Ravi today said that the state government had laid the greatest importance to development of roads “as they are the harbingers of growth and development in any region or area of the State.”
In his address at the 5th session of 13th NLA here, Ravi announced that recently, the NEC has sanctioned four roads for upgradation under the North East Road Sector Development Scheme (NERSDS).
Further, 7 (seven) projects under the North East Special Infrastructure Development Scheme (NESIDS) and 13 (thirteen) projects under Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana (PMGSY) have also been sanctioned this year.
The Road & Bridges Department is also constructing 9 roads under Inter-State-Connectivity (ISC) covering a length of 180.89 km amounting to Rs 631.8 crore.
The Department is also giving utmost importance to the timely completion of the roads as well as ensuring adherence to all the quality parameters by the various road construction agencies, he said.
He said that the department of Power has taken up several projects to improve the supply and availability of power in the state.
It took up up-gradation of the existing 66 kV Transmission line from Kiphire to Mokokchung via Tuensang, covering a distance of 106 km of transmission line length. The project is completed and ready for commissioning.
The Department has also taken up construction of 10O MVA sub-station at Zhadima which will be the first sub-station in the State at 220kV level directly connected with the North Eastern Grid aimed to provide stable power supply in Kohima, Wokha, Phek and Kiphire districts.
A few months back, MyGov Nagaland portal was launched which is an innovative IT platform for building partnership between citizens and Government for the progress and growth of the state, he said.
