Naga Mothers’ Association seeks Gov’s intervention

KOHIMA, SEPTEMBER 16 (MExN): The Naga Mothers’ Association (NMA) has appealed to the Governor of Nagaland to intervene in the ongoing agitation by RMSA teachers in the state, urging the government to implement court orders on their scale of pay.

In a memorandum to the Raj Bhavan, the NMA said the Gauhati High Court, Kohima Bench, had held that the petitioners-aggrieved RMSA teachers in the case of a writ petition-were entitled to a pay band of Rs 9,300–34,800 with grade pay of Rs 4,200 per month. The Court had directed the State respondents “to grant such scale of pay to the petitioners forthwith.”

The NMA further pointed out that the Supreme Court, in response to a Special Leave Petition filed by the State Government, dismissed the plea and declined to interfere with the High Court’s judgment and order.

Citing these directives, the Association urged the State Government, through the Governor’s office, to ensure justice is granted to the agitating RMSA teachers and that the orders of the courts are implemented without delay.
