Liberal Democratic People of Nagaland
No nation or state is free from problems but having said that, the monstrosity of problem of the Nagas are second to none, and the current attitude of the powers that be, doesn’t seem to delve towards sanctity for eradication in the least or paving way for any concurrence that streamlines the dynamics necessitated for the resurrection of the exaltation our ancestors held high, into more modernized and civilized interpretation. Should there be persistent inducement to the powers that be, to realize the frequency the perception of the citizens is vibrating at. The Naga unity today is conceivably irregular and at the expense of it, exists impermanence the liberty (personal and economic) and freedom we breathe in and express. We stand not united for the mere reason in the lack of innovation inherent among the powers and the divest nature of typical that display unset hindsight pertaining to the rules of engagement in the intrinsic factor of prelude; the antecedent; the humility; the indignity; considering the fact that almost the updaters are synchronizing inheriting civilized inherent. This article highlights some of the major distortions in our socio-political features for us to observe and realize the necessity for conceiving an outcome so that our current problems would surface the zenith of its transient affliction from our society.
The eastern divide: The demand for a Frontier Nagaland that surged up to peak during 2015 and the reasons pertaining and necessitated the ENPO to envisage a possibility to seek out for better refuge for the general interest of its people is comprehended by all Nagas alike. It is a fact that the infrastructural conditions are more deplorable and the people there are deprived of basic comfort and luxury of having a well means of transportation factors; public and healthcare services and facilities etc. For any Naga the remark would go as, “blame your own politicians for the mess.”The remark would be close but then what about the bureaucrats and the other public “servants” (sic), who care less of attendance or performing assigned tasks—which is to facilitate a bridge for the central schemes to remunerate the poor public and help them attain sustainable economy. Only that, both the bureaucrat and the MLA play cohesive pivotal role in assuming the funds at their disposal, as though it had been sanctioned for them. The entire system is flawed and unless a new structure with innovative and modernized like-minded leaders are instilled to pioneer and impact, for the next generations to follow suit, it would be fictitious to aspire under the same carriage of flaws, be it under Nagaland or in Frontier Nagaland. This will not conceive along or make any entailing progressive landmarks, except furnishing a few designs in the first phase, and then succumbing to corruption and regression for the entire generations to suffer – the remnants of Dimapur and Kohima could be a good example of this. An inundation of rhetoric to our eastern would be to have faith in collective growth and Nagaland to reassure and redress the unification of Naga to our other brothers.
The apparition outlook of Nagas outside Nagaland: Nagas of Assam, Arunachal and the Burma etc. are often sidelined whenever there is the talk for Naga politics, for the simplest reason that even the mainland Nagas of Nagaland are ourselves not equipped with the capacity to put our foot solid on the ground to sustain and achieve political stability wherein lies our salvation from the wretched console of corruption that has fractured our aspiration for development and progress. Although we are aware of the fact that our brothers in other territories are deprived much of their rights; the worst of those in Burma, where it has been reported that the Nagas there hardly get to have rice as meal and are forced upon other alternative source for nourishment—there is the heed for cognizance upon the powers that be, who bathe in luxury, when our own people elsewhere are deprived of basic facilities to live a “Life”. The public are but mere spectators of our political activities and for that we are sorry—to our brothers who have to undergo through strain and toil to let a day pass. It is with faith the Nagas of Nagaland are marching forward taking baby steps, initially, but should we get to a platform when the will of people prevail, for now the poor and immobile people of Nagaland expresses these empty and fluid words unto our brothers that we are with you in our heart and mind. We all suffer from the tyranny of bad governance and are but all slaves, destined to break free and only but proceed in sync with time where our journey inevitably landmarks our cohesion unstained by frailty and animosity in our way of life, we today all bear. We appeal to all our Naga brothers to have faith in Naga.
Central surgical strikes: Since the proclamation of sovereign Nagaland by NNC in 14th of August 1947, the Nagas have witnessed numerous surgical strikes from New Delhi to crush Naga national workers on the pretext of counter insurgency. The first wave of massive scale of interception with the Naga national workers was enforced in 1956; after which subsequently the peace mission of Jai Prakash Narayan, B P Chaliha and Rev. Michael Scott to Nagaland endorsed the signing of agreement for suspension of operation with the insurgents. After many accounts of inter-factional and clashes with the Indian Army with allegations of inhumane animosity, genocide, intent annihilation etc. we witnessed another round of ceasefire with the NSCN (IM) in 1997 and the NSCN (K) in 2001. And today, as the people embark to cohesively conclude the vexed Naga issue, and with the coming forward of the six NNPGs under the umbrella of WC, and although the ceasefire between the Centre and the NSCN (K) discontinued in April 2015, it is unprofessional on the part of the Centre to launch consistent surgical strikes on the NSCN (K) in the pretext of counter insurgency – when the whole of Nagas and the Indians are hopeful for a tranquil and amicable discourse of conclusion, that would entail a friendly and healthy relationship with India.
In the encounter of NSCN (K) and the Indian Army on 30th Sept. an officer on ground said the insurgents suffered about 30 casualties. It was initially reported to be a surgical strike involving a swift breach of International Border (IB) by the Indian soldiers, but later was denied by the Army’s Eastern Command. The Union Home minister also said in 2016 that there was no plan to renew the ceasefire with the NSCN (K).
