In what was described as “encouraging” by one of the top officials of the State’s School Education Department, a total of 6074 students has applied online to study Class XI in Government Higher Secondary Schools (GHSS) in Nagaland.
Amid the lockdown due to COVID-19 pandemic, the department had earlier constituted a first-ever common admission portal for admission to GHSS in Nagaland.
“Encouraging 6074 online applications for class XI admission. Locking options/online payment of fees will start on 27th June,” Principal Director, School Education, Nagaland Shanavas C informed in a tweet on June 23.
“Nagaland shows that it's time to come out of the shell cribbing on the connectivity issues and fight the odds,” he added.
A total of 4820 applied in Arts stream, while 465 applied for Science. There were 170 applicants in the Commerce stream. Gender-wise, there were 2624 males and 2831 females’ applicants.
The online admission process started on June 10 and closed on June 22 midnight.
The application status of ‘Selected / Rejected / Waiting List’ would be notified on June 27, the department informed.
