Dimapur, August 3 (MExN): The Governor of Nagaland La Ganesan attended the Amrit Yuva Kalotsava 2023-24 at Rangaphar Military Station, Dimapur as the chief guest on August 1. The programme was organised by Sangeeta Natak Akademi, National Academy of Music, Dance and drama (an autonomous body of Ministry of culture, Government of India) in collaboration with NEZCC, Dimapur, Nagaland and the Spear corps, Indian army, Dimapur.

PRO Raj Bhavan, Kohima in a press release stated that speaking on the occasion, the Governor who is also the chairman of NEZCC said the culture of India with its deep civilization roots is a profound example of Living Heritage. He expressed that it is manifested in multifarious forms, genres, and expressions which encompasses the cultural practices, knowledge and skills that flow from one generation to the next. 

He mentioned that it is like the pristine Dhansiri River originating from Laisang peak of Nagaland which nourishes the regions where it flows through, similarly, the Indian culture flows in the collective consciousness of the people defining our cultural heritage and identity. 

The Governor stated that India’s G-20 Presidency theme - ‘One Family, One Earth, and One Future’ consolidates its core belief in Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam. He acknowledged that the foundation of any country is the youth whose dreams and aspirations are to be nurtured and developed in the present times.

The Governor pointed out that the progress in the Amrit Kaal has to be at multi-dimensional levels and for posterity as India cerebrates its 75th Independence year with a new found zeal.

He also underlined that Amrit Yuva Kalotsava is a commendable endeavour of Sangeet Natak Akademi as the apex body in the field of the performing arts in India. He said it aspires to encourage the younger generation to celebrate our cultural heritage, expressed through various performing art genres.

As part of the festival, the Governor stated that a workshop on art critique and other multifarious aspects of the performing arts is being organized in which senior experts, art critics, and scholars will interact with art enthusiasts and young artists, both in the physical and virtual modes so as to share the knowledge acquired through their vast experience. He added that there is still a continuing relevance of this Guru-Shishya Parampara in the contemporary world. 

During the programme presentation were made by Odissi Vision and Movement Centre, Kolkata, Manab Das and Group, Tripura, Vüngi Nzanta Cultural Club, Nagaland, Kanika Ignti and Group, Assam, Yumnam Bisojit and group, Manipur, and Sanskrit Play by Bheem Hanuman Samvad, Akash Mallikand group, Delhi/Kolkata.

Lieutenant General Harjeet Singh Sahi, AVSM, YSM, SM General Officer Commanding  Spear Corps was the guest of honour. Other officers present were Commissioner & Secretary Art & Culture, Athel O Lotha IAS; Vice Chairman Sangeet Natak Akademi Joravarsinh Jadav, Rajesh Soundararajan, IAS, Secretary to Governor Nagaland, Director NEZCC, Dr Prashanna Gogoi, and others.
