Nagaland Chief Minister, Dr Neiphiu Rio said that health and empowerment of women are central to the programme of a family, communities and the nation at large.
Launching the State level programme of Swasth Nari, Sashakt Parivaar Abhiyan (health camps with services for women and children) at Capital Convention Centre on September 17, Rio stated that when women are healthy, educated and empowered, the entire society benefits.
Terming this as a significant initiative as timely by the Ministry of Health & Health Family Welfare, he informed that this campaign will focus on the health and nutrition of women, adolescent girls and children to strengthen early detection and treatment linkages for various diseases, deliver essential health services to the last mile etc.
In Nagaland, Dr Rio informed that the campaign will be conducted in 532 health units, including 12 district hospitals, 26 CHCs, 8 UPHCs, 97 HWC-PHCs, 336 HWC-SCs and 49 Ayush HWCs.

CM also stated that during the campaign fortnight, health camps will provide a comprehensive package of specialist services including screening of non-communicable diseases, reproductive and child health services, nutrition and menstrual hygiene awareness, tuberculosis screening and referrals, and mental health awareness and counseling.
He appreciated the Nagaland Institute of Medical Sciences & Research (NIMSR) who will be actively involved in providing specialist services during the health camps, and also acknowledged the participation of private hospitals and clinics, whose contribution, Rio said, will help extend the reach of this Abhiyan to more people.
Stating that this campaign is an important step towards the vision of a healthy, empowered and Viksit Bharat by 2047, the CM has urged all citizens especially women, mothers, and young girls to take full advantage of the services being offered.
Appreciating all doctors, nurses, ASHAs, Angawadi workers and community volunteers – the backbone of this campaign, Dr Rio has called upon all to rededicate oneself to the goal of universal health coverage and ensure that no is left behind in ‘our’ journey towards a healthier and more prosperous future.

Minister for Health & Family Welfare, P Paiwang Konyak, has informed that the Nagaland has received 26 ambulances, 12 hearse, six Boleros and Rapid Response Team (RRT) vehicles funded and procured under NESIDS for strengthening surveillance.
The six Bolero, he said, are earmarked, for state, Mon, Dimapur, Phek, Tuensang and Zunheboto. Konyak said, all these was made possible through the initiative of the chief minister, Dr Rio, which will go a long way in improving healthcare delivery, ensuring timely medical support and providing dignity in service to the people of the state.
The Minister also called for a renewed pledge to collectively work for healthier women, stronger families, and a more empowered society.
Chief Minister also flagged off the ambulances, hearse and RRT vehicles and virtually inaugurated two Integrated Public Health Laboratories (IPHL) for Mon and Dimapur district hospitals under PM-ABHIM.
The launching programme saw the presence of Ministry of Health & Family Welfare, Joint Secretary, Dr Rajender Singh, Minister KG Kenye, CL John, Metsubo Jamir and others.
