Nagaland: Downward trend in new COVID cases

Kohima, February 20 (MExN):  Nagaland continued to witness a decline in daily COVID-19 cases as it reported two new COVID-19 cases while 33 patients recovered from the infection on Sunday.  Out of 165 samples that were tested in the last 24 hours, two returned positive denoting a daily sample positivity rate of 1.21 percent. The new cases were detected during self tests and random testing in Dimapur and Phek districts, the daily IDSP health bulletin stated.  The state's COVID-19 death toll stood at 749 for the fifth consecutive day as no deaths were reported on Sunday while the active caseload decreased to 264.  

The cumulative tally of infections meanwhile now stands at 35,357, out of which 32,864 people have recovered from the disease, including 33 on Sunday. Of the 33 people who recovered in the last 24 hours, 19 were from Kohima, 13 from Dimapur and one from Mokokchung.  As per the bulletin, two patients with severe symptoms are admitted in the intensive care units and are on ventilators, three with moderate symptoms on oxygen support, while 60 patients have mild symptoms. A total of 199 patients are asymptomatic.
