Nagaland: Farmers urged to adopt tech-upgrade, crop rotation

Dimapur, August 2 (MExN): On the occasion of the release of 20th installment of PM KISAN Samman Nidhi Scheme, the Prime Minister, Narendra Modi transfer about Rs 20,500 crore to more than 9 crore 70 lakh farmers on August 2. 

As a part of this, KVK Dimapur in collaboration with ICAR Research Complex for NEH Region, Nagaland Centre, ATMA-Chümoukedima and Niuland organised two-way webcasting programme to witness this momentous occasion which was conducted at the Council Hall, Naga United Village on August 2, stated a press release.

Mhathung Yanthan, MLA and Advisor, Department of Agriculture graced the occasion as the chief guest. He emphasised the farmers to enroll for PM KISAN Scheme and to utilize the Rs 2000 given to the farmers in a proper way so that it can enhanced farming communities and in a year the farmers will get Rs 6000 under this PM KISAN scheme.

He stressed that today farming should be technology driven farming, implementation of farm machineries and so that we can increase the income from our farming activities. ‘Farmers should take advantage of the good soil and climate that we have been blessed and also to go for crop rotation of two to three crops in a crop,’ he said. 

The programme was also attended by dignitaries namely Wezope Kenye, IAS, Agriculture Production Commissioner, Government of Nagaland, SanuzoNienu, Director of Agriculture, Smt. Rosemarry Ezung, Joint Director, Department of Agriculture, Moainla Pongen, District Agriculture Officer, Chümoukedima, Ronzamo Kikon, Deputy Director Department of Agriculture, L Hoshito Chophi, District Agriculture Officer, Dimapur, Government of Nagaland and other state officials from DAO Chümoukedima, DAO Niuland, DAO, Dimapur, ATMA. 

Altogether, 350 farmers from different villages and blocks of Chümoukedima, Dimapur and Niuland districts, and other participants attended the programme. 

An input distribution of vegetables seeds to the farmers was conducted, followed by farmer scientist interaction.
