The Directorate of Higher Education, Nagaland today organized a one-day Government College Principals Annual Conference, bringing together all the Principals from 17 Government Colleges in Nagaland.
The conference, held at Hotel Japfu, Kohima, was graced by Temjen Imna Along, Minister for Higher Education & Tourism, and Government of Nagaland as the Guest of Honour.
Sarita Yadav,(IAS) Secretary, Higher & Technical Education, V Lovitoly Sema (NCS ) Additional Secretary, HTE & Ex-Officio Director, Higher Education, Sentiyanger Pongen, Additional Secretary, HTE & SPD, RUSA/PM-USHA, Principals of the 17 Government Colleges and officials of Higher Education attended the conference.
During the conference, the Minister officially launched the Higher Education Attendance & Record Tracking (HEART) App, an initiative aimed at strengthening institutional management and monitoring.
The HEART App incorporates faculty attendance through facial biometric and geo-tagging features, facilitates efficient dissemination of information to colleges, enables monitoring of institutional and maintains student enrolment data for project monitoring systems.
The Minister also released the “Quality Enhancement Report 2024–2025,” highlighting the Departments continued commitment towards improving academic standards and institutional development across Government Colleges in Nagaland.
Departmental Meritorious Awards were also presented to four faculty members and three ministerial staffs in recognition of their excellent contributions in their institutional performance.
The awards were handed over to the respective college principals. The awards aims to motivate colleges to adopt best practices in teaching, governance and employee support systems, while encouraging the colleges towards academic excellence and holistic development.
The conference concluded with a reaffirmation of the departments commitment to fostering quality higher education and collaborative institutional growth in Nagaland through sustained innovation and accountability.
Earlier, the conference was chaired by Vetanule Demo, OSD, Higher Education while Dr Vitsosie Vupru, principal Kohima College Kohima invoked God’s blessings. Sarita Yadav,(IAS) Secretary, Higher & Technical Education and V Lovitoly Sema (NCS ) Additional Secretary, HTE & Ex-Officio Director, Higher Education also addressed the conference while Er Rishav Sethi made a brief presentation about the department App “HEART.”
Presentation of meritorious award was led by Dr K Nishena Nekha, Additional Director, Higher Education while Rokono P Keyho, Joint Director, Higher Education proposed vote of thanks.
