Nagaland inks deal for 4&5- star hotels in Kohima and Dimapur

Department of Tourism signs a lease agreement with Hotel Polo Towers Group

In a major boost for hotel industry in Nagaland, the Department of Tourism, Government of Nagaland and Hotel Polo Towers Group today inked a lease agreement for development of 4/5 star  or high category hotel with entertainment and retail facilities at  Dimapur Tourist Lodge Dimapur and erstwhile New Millennium, Kohima.

It is a milestone agreement to super charge tourism growth in the state.

Both projects will be realised under a Public-Private Partnership (PPP) model and will operate on a Design, Build, Maintain, Operate, Manage, and Transfer (DBMOMT) basis.

Keduosie-ü M Rio, Director Tourism Nagaland and Hotel Polo Towers Group CEO & Director, Deval Tibrewalla signed the agreement today at Hotel Japfu Kohima in the presence of Nagaland’s tourism & higher education minister Temjen Imna Along, MLA Kevipodi Sophie, Nagaland tourism secretary Nchumbemo Lotha and others.

The Dimapur facility will feature top-of-the-line accommodations, multiple dining venues, entertainment centers, and retail shops, thereby positioning itself as a complete lifestyle.

The Kohima project will focus on providing an unparalleled luxury hotel experience to serve both business and leisure travellers.
These landmark projects are set to elevate the tourism and economic landscape of Nagaland.

A good sign: Imna Along 
Minister Temjen Imna Along described the signing of the lease agreement as a good sign in the vision of the Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio towards tourism as an industry in the state of Nagaland.

This thing came into being through the initiative of Chief Minister, he said also thanked the former tourism advisor H.Khehovi Yepthomi for taken ground work with Hotel Polo Towers Group two years ago.

Along maintained that tourism as an industry has been transforming the lives of many people throughout the state and throughout the world.

“Nagaland has just step into the field of tourism as an industry,” the minister said adding that Nagaland is known for Hornbill festival throughout the world.

He also hoped that Hotel Polo Towers Group will build the star hotel with Naga motif and at the same time, will endeavour to employ a lot of the right and qualified Naga youth “into your industry as we partner for long term to come.”

He also assured that the department will cooperate with all the efforts and endeavour of Hotel Polo Towers Group, adding that the state government will facilitate them and the people of Nagaland will be honoured to help achieve what is needed to be done.

Congratulating both the party, Kevipodi Sophie said “This will be a new era for having a good hotel.”’

Director of Tourism stated, "This agreement is a cornerstone in the path to advance Nagaland's tourism sector. We look forward to extending all support to bring these ambitious projects to fruition."
