Dimapur, April 11 (MExN): Member of Nagaland Legislative Assembly and Advisor, Tribal Affairs and Election Department, Nagaland H Tovihoto Ayemi said, “Peace and harmony among people of different faiths and culture is essential for healthy and progressive society.” He was speaking at fast-breaking Iftar party organised by Muslim Youth Dimapur at Idgah Ground, Dimapur on April 10 last.
“Peaceful coexistence of people of different religions is the beauty of Dimapur,” Tovihoto said while urging upon the people to be mindful “to embrace the responsibility that falls upon all of us to protect uphold peace and harmony of our society.”
Tovihoto pointed out that no religion preaches violence; love and peace are central in every religion and which, all must follow in true spirit for a peaceful society, stated a press release received here.
Besides lauding the initiative of Muslim Youth Dimapur for inviting people of different religious and cultural backgrounds in order to foster the spirit of brotherhood and unity, Tovihoto also appreciated the efforts of Muslim youth for always being upfront to extend humanitarian services during crisis time of need such as COVID lockdown and fire outbreak which is a common occurrence in Dimapur. “Serving humanity is serving God,” he asserted.
An official of Muslim Youth Dimapur said “the event which invited people of different religion was initiated in a bid to foster and promote peace, harmony and brotherhood of the people and that the Muslim youth are committed towards the welfare of Dimapur.”
Other speakers representing various other religious and cultural backgrounds stressed on the need for inter-religious harmony.
