AR apprehends NSCN (R) cadre
Dimapur, August 12 (MExN): One cadre of the NSCN (R) was apprehended from general area Chekiye on August 9 by troops of the Assam Rifles (AR) along with Police representative. According to a press release from the AR, “based on specific intelligence regarding presence of a UG cadre in general area Chekiye, troops of Assam Rifles along with Police representative launched an operation” and apprehended 29-year old Raja Peyu Kamal Sangma of NSCN (R). Recoveries included a .32mm Pistol with Mag, the release said. The apprehended individual along with recovered items was handed over to Diphupar police station for further investigation, it added.
CWSK condemns
Kohima, August 12 (MExN): The Chakhesang Women Society Kohima (CWSK) has expressed shock and deep concern over the incident where a minor girl was molested by her father at Aradura, Kohima on August 6. The Society in a condemnation note stated condemned “this unthinkable, shameful, and horrendous act in the strongest of terms” and appealed to the concerned authorities to thoroughly investigate and award the accused with befitting punishment.
2 houses, quarantine mess sealed in Wokha
Wokha, August 12 (MExN): Deputy Commissioner and Chairman District Task Force (DTF) for COVID-19, Wokha, Orenthung Lotha has informed that the quarantine mess and two houses in Blue Hill colony, Wokha town, have been sealed for a period of 96 hours for necessary contract tracing and active surveillance with effect from August 10. This was stated in a press release received on August 12. The DC informed that the locations have been sealed in the interest of public health and safety and abundant caution following the detection of COVID-19 cases.
GPRN/NSCN discharges one
Dimapur, August 12 (MExN): The GPRN/NSCN on Wednesday issued a press statement informing that, as per the office order dated August 8, 2020, Pte Qhiveto “has been discharged from active service of Naga Army on ground of health ailment.” Acknowledging his service rendered during his stint, the “Naga Army, GPRN/NSCN wishes him a healthy and prosperous future,” the statement read.
Yung Aung-led NSCN (K) cadre arrested
Dimapur, August 12 (MExN): Troops of Assam Rifles (AR) along with Police representative apprehended one Yung Aung-led NSCN (K) cadre during an operation in general area Selouphe(RB 1602) on August 10. The arrested cadre was identified as Leacy Kashito Sema (50). One .32mm pistol with Mag and one 12 Bore Rifle with thirteen 12 Bore cartridges were reportedly recovered. The apprehended individual along with recovered items was handed over to Diphupar police station for further investigation, a report from the AR informed.
