Guv greets on Mungmung fest

KOHIMA, SEPTEMBER 3 (MExN): Nagaland Governor Ajay Kumar Bhalla on Wednesday extended greetings to the Sangtam community and the people of the state on the occasion of the Mungmung festival. In his message, the governor said the festival, celebrated with devotion and gratitude, reflects the rich cultural traditions of the Sangtam community and their close bond with nature. He said Mungmung is a time to thank the Almighty for a bountiful harvest, share in unity and pray for peace and prosperity. “May this Mungmung bring happiness, good health and abundant blessings to all,” Bhalla said.

NPF calls emergency CEC meeting

KOHIMA, SEPTEMBER 3 (MExN): The Naga People’s Front (NPF) president has convened an emergency meeting of the party’s Central Executive Council (CEC) on September 6 at the NPF central office in Kohima. The meeting, scheduled for 11 am, has been called under Clause (3) of Article V read with Clause 3(C)(II) of Article IV of the NPF Constitution, the party said in a notification. It said the main agenda of the meeting would be to deliberate and adopt a resolution to strengthen the party both at the grassroots and central level. All members of the CEC have been asked to attend the meeting, it added.

Mkg court convicts woman for culpable homicide

MOKOKCHUNG, SEPTEMBER 3 (MExN): The Principal District and Session Court, Mokokchung convicted Imjunglemla for culpable homicide not amounting to murder and attempt to commit suicide. The judgment was delivered by Victo Sema, NJS, Principal District and Sessions Judge, Mokokchung, on August 28, 2025. Imjunglemla was sentenced to undergo 10 years of simple imprisonment for culpable homicide and one year for attempting suicide under Sections 304 Part I and 309 of the Indian Penal Code, respectively. Both sentences will run concurrently, the court said.

DMC to begin inspection of non-motorised vehicles

DIMAPUR, SEPTEMBER 3 (MExN): The Small Vehicle Branch of the Dimapur Municipal Council (DMC) will conduct inspection of all non-motorised vehicles under its jurisdiction from September 8, 2025. The inspection will cover handcarts, pushcarts, thelas (manual carts), rickshaws, cycles and similar vehicles which have not acquired the mandatory DMC number plate or renewed their driving licence as required under law, the DMC said in a release.It said all concerned owners and operators have been directed to regularise their documents and procure the prescribed number plates from the DMC office without delay, failing which action would be taken as per municipal rules.
