The Department of Political Science, Unity College organized Student Research Colloquium on Understanding Local Self-Governance in Nagaland: Functioning of Village Councils on March 21, at the College Seminar Hall. Altogether, nine student colloquists presented their research papers – case studies of their respective villages under the Village Councils. The Department of Psychology and Counselling, St Joseph University in collaboration with the National Institute for the Empowerment of Persons with Intellectual Disabilities (DIVYANGJAN) (NIIEPID) and Office of the State Commissioner for Persons with Disabilities organized a programme for college students on “early identification and intervention of children with intellectual and developmental disabilities” on March 22. The session facilitators were Dr Ravi Prakash, officer in charge NIEPID RC, Navi Mumbai, Dr Neeral Mishra, lecturer, Occupational therapy, CRC Davangere, Keerti Sudha Rajput, Lecturer, Rehabilitation Psychology, NIEPID RC Kolkata. 
An assessment camp for early detection of intellectual disabilities will be held at the St Joseph University campus from 10:00 am. TA will be provided for one caregiver and the child along with a free learning kit. Interested caregivers are required to bring Aadhaar card, 3 photos, disability certificate/UDID Card, Income certificate/BPL Card and ST/SC Category certificate. An awareness programme on Sakhi One Stop Centre (OSC) and disability schemes was initiated by District Administration, Sakhi One Stop Centre in collaboration with Disabled Forum Mokokchung (DFM) at Khar Village Community Hall with council members, church leaders, Watsü members, and disabled community on March 21. OSC Case Worker, Ajungla Longchar briefed on OSC services and discussed on types of violence faced by women. Imkongnuchet, President, DFM shared approaches to prevent discrimination against disabled community. He requested Khar Village to initiate in setting up Village Disabled People’s Organization for the benefit of the Community. (Morung Photo) 

In a joint exercise by the NDRF and SDRF, organized by the DDMA, a rescue operation exercise was conducted at old DC's office complex, Tuensang on March 22. Debriefing on the mock drill, SP Tuensang, Vishal Chauhan appreciated the team effort of NDRF team in demonstrating the evacuation and rescue mission from a high rise building for which he also encouraged the SDRF team to be confident in such missions. DC Tuensang, Kumar Ramnikant encouraged the SDRF team to well prepared so that if disasters hits the district, the situation can be handled. The Nagaland Handloom & Handicrafts Development Corporation Ltd., Dimapur is organising a Craft Bazar at Gorkha Public Panchayat Kohima, Multi-Utility Hall, GPPK Complex, Chandmari, Kohima, from March 22 to 31, sponsored by the Office of the Development Commissioner (Handicrafts), Ministry of Textiles, GoI. The Craft Bazar was inaugurated by Zakabo V Rotokha (NCS) Managing Director, NHHDC Ltd on March 22. Altogether 73 participants from Assam, Manipur and Nagaland are exhibiting handicrafts products.
