President Droupadi Murmu presents Padma Shri to Moa Subong for Art on April 5. A musician and composer, Moa along with his spouse Guru Arenla Subong formed a Naga Folk Fusion band ‘Abiogenesi’ and has evolved a new form of Naga music. Padma Shri Moa is the co-founder of folk fusion band Abiogenesis, one of the oldest and renowned bands from the State. Started with his wife Arenla Subong, the band has won several accolades including the Governor’s Award for Excellence in Music. He is also credited for ‘bamhum’ a flute-like musical instrument made of bamboo, for which he has received several commendations. He also developed ‘Tikzik,’ a Naga Bamboo percussion instrument. Abiogenesis is also known for the ‘Howey music,’ a fusion of traditional Naga music and other modern rhythm. Two persons from Nagaland - Moa Subong and Neihunuo Sorhie, were among the 106 Padma awardees announced by the Union Ministry of Home Affairs on the occasion of Republic Day 2023. Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), Nagaland state observed the ‘43rd Foundation Day of the BJP’ at State Capital BJP Head Office, Kohima on April 6. The occasion was marked by hoisting of party flag by BJP State Vice President, Kevidezo Peter Rutsa and attended by State Office Bearers, State Morchas and BJP Kohima district. It was attended by BJP legislators Imkong L Imchen, Er Kropol Vitsu and Pangjung Jamir. The 43rd BJP Foundation Day was also observed across the state of Nagaland by respective districts and all the 60 Mandals. The officials celebrated the occasion by tuning into the 'Live Broadcast' of Prime Minister Narendra Modi's address.

Dimapur Yaongyimchen Bühü Union (DYBU) celebrated Monyü festival 2023 at Aoyimti village, Dimapur on April 4. Monyü 2023 was hosted by Dr S Imnameren Phom & family. Folk songs & dance was performed by Matsüng Loachy & Co., while Monyü folk song was presented by Yaongyimchen Luli Dimapur. Various traditional games and activities marked the celebration. LT Yanger Angh shared the significance of Monyü festival.

A new building for ‘Dry Fasting’ at Koinonia Prayer Centre (KPC), Tsiesema Basa, an extended ministry of the Koinonia Baptist Church (KBC) was dedicated on April 4 by Rev. Zotuo Kiewhuo, Founder Pastor of Koinonia Baptist Church and Kohima Bible College. The building was designed by Format Associate, Kohima. In his dedicatory message, Rev Kiewhuo stated that the Koinonia Prayer Centre, started in 2014, is a divine ordain place, highlighting the importance of prayer and fasting in Christians life. The programme was led by H Rokopra Mekro, Asst, Pastor KPC while a special song was presented by Neilhou Sopfunuo.
