Nagaland records 304 new COVID-19 cases & 6 deaths

Dimapur, May 15 (MExN): Nagaland on Saturday recorded 304 fresh COVID-19 cases that took the state’s active case count to 3,985, according to the health department’s daily bulletin.

Of the new cases, Dimapur reported 148 cases, Kohima-121, Mokokchung-11, Tuensang-10, Mon-4, Phek and Wokha- 3 each, Zunheboto-2, while Longleng and Kiphire reported 1 case each.

With 304 positive cases out of 927 samples that were tested, the daily sample positivity rate stood at 32.79 per cent.

As per the bulletin, 145 of the new cases were detected through self test and random tests while traced contacts accounted for 116 of the new cases. Armed forces/security personnel registered 27 cases and 10 cases were detected among returnees/travellers. 6 out of the new cases on Saturday were frontline workers.

Another 6 deaths were also reported on Saturday, taking the total fatalities to 185 from 179 on Friday. This excludes 11 other deaths which is categorized as ‘not COVID related’.

Meanwhile, 53 patients also recovered from the infection Saturday. The recoveries were reported from Dimapur (33), Mon (9), Mokokchung (8) and 1 each from Kohima, Peren and Phek.

With this, the total number of positive cases in Nagaland increased to 17,835 while total recovery was 13,087. There are 3,081 active cases in the State till date and 567 cases have ‘migrated.’
