Medziphema, October 10 (MExN): State Agricultural Management and Extension Training Institute (SAMETI) organised online training on ‘management practices and value addition in sericulture’ on October 9 and 10.
Dr Watimongla Jamir, Director SAMETI & Principal IETC i/c in her inaugural speech gave a brief overview about Sericulture as an important activity in agri and allied sectors. She stated that Sericulture is a women friendly occupation providing gainful employment and continuous income to the farmers.
Resource persons for the training were Eyareno Chuse, Assistant Sericulture Officer and Mezhusielie Khro, Sericulture Field Assistant from District Sericulture office, Kohima. Topics on Management Practices of Host Plant in Garden; Silkworm Rearing Techniques; Value addition in Sericulture: Pre coccon and Value addition in Sericulture: Post coccon were covered.
On the whole, the training saw a good turnout of participants from all districts of the state. Feedback was received from all the participant and e-Certificates was forwarded to the participants.
