NCC SJC (A) cadets attend annual training

A total of 78 NCC girls and 15 NCC boys of St Joseph’s College (Autonomous), Jakhama took part in Combined Annual Training Camp-98 held at Kohima College from February 21-27.

Kohima, March 12 (MExN): A total of 78 NCC girls and 15 NCC boys of St Joseph’s College (Autonomous), Jakhama took part in Combined Annual Training Camp-98 held at Kohima College from February 21-27.

The camp was organised by 1 Nagaland Girls’ Battalion National Cadet Corps (NCC), Kohima under the aegis of NCC Group-Kohima.

A total of 295 cadets comprising of 216 from 1 NL Girls’ BN NCC, 47 from 24 NL (I) COY NCC, Kohima and 32 from No.1 NL Air SQN (Flying) NCC, Dimapur hailing from Kohima, Dimapur, Chümoukedima, Peren, Phek and Kiphire districts attended the camp.

As per a press release, the camp started off with the opening address of Col. Abdul Hameed Khan, CO of 1 NL Girls’ BN NCC and the Camp Commandant while Brig Praveen Singh Sagwan, new Group Commander of NCC Gp-Kohima, addressed the camp on February 24 and acknowledged RDC-2022 cadets with a gift.

At the camp, CPL Keheteu Nuh of SJC (A) made a painting for the guest lecture of Vibha Lakera on “Identifying Your Identity” for which she was awarded a medal along with a citation.

JUO Chanreiwungphi P Shatsang of SJC (A) bagged the gold medal for being the best firer of the camp while the silver went to JUO Naroinla of KSC, Jotsoma.

SUO Hile Tsela of KCK secured the first position in drill while SUO Mengutsino Nakhro of SJC (A) stood second.

Many classes on NCC specialized subjects were taken for the cadets during the camp and out of 147 cadets who appeared NCC “B” Certificate Examination on 27 Feb., 39 cadets (24 girls & 15 boys) were from SJC (A), Jakhama, the release said. 

Cadets also witnessed a weapon display organised by 1st Assam Rifles IGAR North, it added.
