NCD lauds police crackdown on illegal tax collection

Action Committee appeals all national workers to maintain peace and co-operate with the ACAUT. 

DIMAPUR, JUNE 11 (MExN): The Action committee under the aegis of the Naga Council, Dimapur  (NCD) has urged upon law enforcing agencies to crack down on illegal taxation and the dealership/syndicate system. It further urged the agencies to “reveal the names of the high profiles who are involved in this connection.” The Committee also acknowledged police efforts in arresting another agent of the vegetable dealership/syndicate and urged upon them to initiate stern action against the culprits. This was stated in a press note by the Co-Convener of the Action Committee, NCD, L Supong Ao and its Secretary, Solomon L Awomi.

The Action Committee has informed the general public and businessmen “to not pay any form of taxes to any group till the issue is resolved.” It also urged all national workers to understand the needs of the people. It asserted that political will is necessary to address the issue of taxation and expressed hope that the NSCN/GPRN would provide a positive response without much delay.

The Action Committee also appealed to all national workers to maintain peace and co-operate with the ACAUT for the betterment of the general public. It cautioned that any threat or intimidation to any of the public leaders and businessmen would initiate stern action against the defaulter. The Action Committee also reiterated its stand against multiple taxation and dealership/syndicate system. It further called upon the people for their support and co-operation “to resolve this menace of illegal system in our society.”
