New Year is a time to reflect the past, make plans for year ahead: Azo

MLA Kuzholuzo (Azo) Nienu and leader of NPF Legislature Party today stated that New Year is perhaps the biggest party that everyone in the world joins, a special time when “we say goodbye to the old year and welcome the brand new one with excitement and hope.”

The New Year is like a magical reset button; it encourages us to start fresh and try new things to bring more happiness into our lives, Azo said this while addressing the 2nd day of the 65th General Session of the Phek Students’ Union (PSU) at Phek village on January 5.

As we celebrate the end of a year and the beginning of another, it also a time to reflect on what transpired over the past year which may have been both challenging and fruitful, he said.

We ought to look back on the past year with a sense of gratitude and fulfillment for the experiences gained and look forward to the future with expectations and renewed vigour, he said adding “As we make New Year resolutions, it also is an opportune time for us to retrospect on our successes and failures in the past year, contemplate and make plans for the year ahead.”

Also addressing the session, Chakhesang Public Organization (CPO) president Veziihii Keyho called upon the students to prioritize their studies and give their full mind to excel in life.

He also told the students to pay respect to their elders and parents and at the same time to conserve the rich cultural and traditional practices of the Nagas. Keyho also challenged the students to be ambassadors for peaceful society. Phek Village Council chairman Chivozo Soho also shared greetings.

PSU president Vepo Soho challenged the students to move ahead with an open mind and also urged upon them to give sincerity in their studies.

“Your hard work will never be wasted but rather it will take you to a greater height,” Soho said.

PSU education & statistical secretary Sherakho Venuh informed that so far, PSU registered 871 matriculate, 450 graduate, 153 post graduate and 640 class 12 passed.

The programme was chaired by PSU vice president Dzuthoku Venuh while Nuchicho Venuh, Advisor PVBC board invoked God’s blessings. Chopachi Chizo and Nukusayi Chizo presented folk song. Chitanieyi Venuh, pastor CRC Phek village pronounced benediction.

The programme was followed by folk dance competition for late Huvekhuyi Soho Memorial Trophy and Quartet Indigenous competition. Later, Vechisayi Venuh, Assistant District Education Officer Phek graced closing function as valedictory guest.
