NFR achieves milestone on Sivok-Rangpo Railway Project

Maligaon, February 18 (MExN): Northeast Frontier Railway, in collaboration with IRCON International Limited, has achieved a milestone in the on-going Sivok-Rangpo Railway Project. This infrastructure initiative is poised to enhance connectivity between West Bengal and Sikkim, fostering economic growth and regional integration.

Recently, the project has achieved a remarkable feat with the launching of two 69-meter-long Open Web girders for Bridge No. 6. These girders, weighing a total of 810 metric tons (excluding the Launching Nose weight), were launched at a height of 40 meters using the advanced Launching Nose method. This method ensures precision and efficiency in constructing challenging bridge structures across difficult terrain.

As of today, 7 out of the 13 bridges planned for the project have been completed, with on-going work progressing steadily on the remaining 6 bridges. The relentless efforts of IRCON, under the guidance of Northeast Frontier Railway, underscore a firm commitment to completing this project with efficiency and excellence.

The Sivok-Rangpo new rail link project connecting Sivok (West Bengal) and Rangpo (Sikkim) is about 44.96 kms long and is characterized by 14 nos. tunnels, 13 major bridges, 09 minor bridges and 5 nos. stations. The length of the longest tunnel (T-10) is 5.3 km and length of longest bridge (Br-17) is 425 meters. About 38.65 kms of the entire project alignment is passing through tunnels.
