NFR registers highest ever scrap sale in 10 years

Guwahati, February 1 (MExN): The Northeast Frontier Railway (NFR) has sold scrap worth Rs. 114 crore January 31, 2022, the highest sale of scrap materials registered by the zone in last 10 years, an official release informed. 

This is 104.65% increase from the total sale of Rs 55.71 crore recorded during corresponding period last year, said the release from NFR Chief Public Relations Officer, Guneet Kaur.

The scrap materials included scrap rails, P-Way materials, condemned coaches, wagons and locomotives etc.

A total of 25640 MTs of scrap rails, P-Way materials and depot scrap were generated in the NFR in the NFR till January 31. Further condemned rolling stock i.e., 54 wagons, 33 coaches and 27 diesel locomotives were sold during the year, the release informed. 

The initiative is in line with the “Zero Scrap Mission” of Indian Railways, and the NFR’s commitment to make all the “establishments and units under its jurisdiction free from scrap materials.” 

Under this mission, continuous monitoring is ensured to keep the stations, depots, sheds, workshops and sections scrap free, it said. During inspections and meetings on “Zero Scrap Mission,” NFR General Manager also stresses and motivates all to create new benchmarks, it added.
