Ngada festival greetings

Kohima, November 26 (MExN): On the occasion of Ngada Festival, Governor of Assam and Nagaland, Prof Jagdish Mukhi extended greetings to Rengma brothers and sisters and the people of Nagaland.

“Ngada is a post-harvest festival celebrated for thanksgiving. It has the beautiful underlying essence of purity, forgiveness, brotherhood and unity. Our young generation needs to carry forward these significant cultural legacies,” Prof Mukhi said.

“Pandemic is not yet over and as we continue to fight against it, I appeal everyone to celebrate this colourful festival observing all Covid-19 protocols,” he appealed while adding, “On this auspicious occasion, I wish the people good health, peace and prosperity. God bless you all!” 

The NSCN (R) expressed joy in conveying greetings on the occasion of Ngada festival of the Rengma Nagas which falls during November 27 and 28.

Ngada is a post harvest festival and is celebrated as a sign of thanksgiving and a time for rejoicing which also marks the end of the agricultural year. The village high priest called ‘Phensengu’ heralds the beginning of the festival, which is observed with feastings, singings, dancing and other cultural activities. 

“May the spirit of this Ngada festival be upon our Rengma Naga brothers and sisters and may it bring them, all the good things in life including prosperity, wealth, health and happiness,” the NSCN (R) MIP stated.
