
Dimapur, March 19 (MExN): Based on recent seizures, the NH-29 is emerging to be one of the most important transit routes for bootleggers and efforts are made to intensify surveillance along this arterial route, informed a press release issued by Katoho Sumi, Dy Commissioner of Excise (NC), Dimapur.
The State Excise Narcotic Cell duty party while conducting routine frisking duty along the NH 29 on March 17 intercepted a suspected vehicle bearing Regd No. NL 07 AA 1382 at 11:30 pm and on inspection, the vehicle was found laden with IMFL contraband.
Accordingly, the vehicle was brought to the office and 22740 bottles of various brands were recovered concealed with household items and confectionery goods, the excise official added.
In this connection, one accused Kevisetuo (30) was booked under the relevant section of the NLTP Act 1989. The seized goods were deposited at the Excise Malkhana for later destruction.
