NIDA suspends mass casual leave

Dimapur, March 5 (MExN): The Nagaland In-Service Doctors’ Association (NIDA) has decided to put on hold their decision to go for mass casual leave from March 7 to 9.

A decision to this effect was taken after receiving due assurance from the state Minister for Health & Family Welfare S Pangnyu Phom that he would take up the matter with the government at the earliest.

While NIDA has called for the mass casual leave to protest the government’s indecision on the matter of superannuation age of doctors in the state, it said that the health minister had assured to give his “best effort” to ensure that the government addresses the matter with urgency.

In this regard, NIDA has said that they have taken “due cognizance” of the minister’s appeal and expressed confidence in his commitment to resolve the long standing issue. So long as the issue is resolved within the stipulated time period, the union will keep the proposed mass casual leave in abeyance, it added.
