The ranking of Nagaland University (NU), the sole central university of the State, has slipped further, as per the latest National Institutional Ranking Framework (NIRF) released on September 9.

The NIRF instituted ‘India Rankings 2021’ was released by Union Education Minister, Dharmendra Pradhan on Thursday in New Delhi.

Among the universities in India, NU was ranked in the 151-200 band, slipping from the 101-150 band it managed in both 2020 and 2019. NU’s best performance was in 2018 when it was among the Top-100 universities in India after it was slotted at 95th position.

NIT Nagaland’s best performance so far has been in 2017 when it was ranked in 151-200 in engineering category.

No colleges from Nagaland were in the list. As per the list  on the NIRF website, only four colleges from the State – Fazl Ali College Mokokchung; SD Jain Girls’ College, Dimapur; St Xavier’s College, Peren; and Tetso College, Dimapur – participated in the ranking.
