NJCF calls for prayer support for Pope Francis

Dimapur, March 6 (MExN): The Nagaland Joint Christian Forum (NJCF) has called for prayer support for Pope Francis who is in Iraq on the first-ever papal visit to the country.

“Nagaland Christian Forum understands the historic, spiritual significance of the journey taken despite virus and security risk.  We call upon all the believers in Nagaland to pray for him and his entourage; for the mission and for safety for all including Iraqis from the pandemic and violence,” the NJCF stated in a press release on March 5.

It is also the Pope’s first international trip since the start of the coronavirus pandemic. The pontiff met Grand Ayatollah Ali al-Sistani on Saturday in Najaf to urge Muslims to embrace Iraq’s beleaguered Christians.

His meeting on Saturday marked the first time a Pope had met a grand Ayatollah.
