Dimapur, August 31 (MExN): The Nagaland Joint Christian Forum (NJCF) concluded a two-day consultative meeting on August 27-28 under the theme “Unity in Christ” at Shunammite Inn, Dimapur. The meeting brought together church leaders from Nagaland, Manipur, Arunachal Pradesh, Assam and Myanmar.

Moses Murry, Secretary of NJCF, delivered the welcome address and introduction. Dr. N. Paphino and Dr. Vevo Phesao were the moderators.

On August 27, Dr. N. Paphino, President of NJCF, spoke on “Unity in Christ.” Sokho George, President of Naga Christian Forum Manipur, addressed “Partnership in Mission.” Dr. Wati Aier, President of FNR, spoke on “The Future of Naga.” Zapra Chakhesang presented “A Brief Naga History.” His book was released by Dr. Wati Aier.

The forum resolved to declare 2026 a year of intercession for unity and peace in all Naga-inhabited areas. It also decided to appeal to political groups to set aside differences, encourage Nagas in different states to form Naga Christian Forums, and to hold fellowship meetings every two years in different states.

The second day began with a fellowship service led by Dr. Marak, Secretary General of CBCNEI, who spoke on “Facing the Challenges Together.” Dr. N. Paphino delivered the keynote address.

The meeting proposed encouraging all states to form Christian forums, strengthening the Northeast India Christian Forum by including all state forum presidents, and standing against atrocities and persecution of minorities, particularly Christians. It also decided to write a joint appeal to the President of India for permission to rebuild religious institutions destroyed during the Manipur violence.

The forum committed to strengthening unity among Christians, consolidating the Northeast forum, and collaborating across states. It expressed solidarity with Manipur, where 450 churches were destroyed during recent violence.

Vevo Phesao, Vice President of NJCF, delivered the vote of thanks. A special prayer was offered for Manipur, persecuted Christians in India, and for the next meeting.
About 60 people representing different Christian denominations and organisations attended the meeting.
